Commodity prices ...

March 2009

The overall index of commodity prices picked up strongly in February in world price terms, and this month there has been something leftover in local currency despite the higher NZ$.

Much stronger dairy prices were the one category that beat the effect of the automatic exchange-rate stabiliser - you can see more detail here. All other categories continued their decline in NZ$.

In world prices, most categories rose, and only horticultural products and aluminium fell.
